Serve a nutritious breakfast to St Paul’s guests

Please read the entire post as there are age restrictions for certain duties as well as clothing info. Note the address – this is in Kansas City Kansas. 

Join us as we serve breakfast to the homeless and impoverished at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in KCK. Episcopal Community Services works with the 1.2.3.4.5. Fit-Tastic program to offer a meal that is nutritious and talk about healthy choices that can help our guests deal with issues like high blood pressure and diabetes. 

This is an interactive event with the guests. They are lovely people, polite and thankful. Suggest wear comfortable shoes, modest clothing. Bring your water bottle if you’d like. 8:30am-9:30am is dining room set up. 9:30-10:30am (ish) is breakfast serving/eating. 10:30-11:30am is clean up. Please plan to stay and help clean up. Volunteers are invited to eat after the guests are finished eating.

Beverage station (need 5 people)               

Volunteers on this team will oversee the beverage station (coffee, water, juice, milk). Tasks may involve refilling creamer and sweetener for coffee, serving guests, setting up clean glasses, etc. ***All volunteers should be at least 10 years old, with volunteers under 14 having proper adult supervision (one adult for each 2 kids). Volunteers should wear closed toed shoes.

Bussers (need 6 people- pls be comfortable talking with guests)

Bussers will clear our guests spaces at tables. Two people will work the bussing stations to make sure that people are throwing away appropriate items and sending reusable items to be washed. Four people will work the room clearing places, monitoring trash cans, carrying full dish bins to the dishwasher, etc. Team members may choose to rotate positions or do the same task for the whole meal service.  **minimum age 14.

Serving Line  (need 5 people)

The serving team will be working the buffet line, serving food to our guests. This position may also involve moving full pans of food in and out of the kitchen, interpersonal interactions with our guests as well as kitchen staff, and assisting people with making healthy food choices. ***All volunteers should be at least 14 years old, wear closed toed shoes, long pants. Gloves are handed out.
