River of Refuge Work Night

River of Refuge helps the hidden homeless, families living in pay-by-the-week motels, shelters and other unstable situations, a chance to get back on their feet. RoR opened 11 transitional housing units in 2016 at the former Park Lane Hospital, where they provide a safe and secure community, classes, and other programs at no-cost.

Serve KC volunteers tackle a variety of tasks each month which may include cleaning apartments, sorting donations, moving furniture, landscape or repair work and other odd jobs. All ages are welcome, those under 18 will need to have a guardian present to sign a liability waiver.

DRESS: Wear comfortable clothing you won’t mind getting dirty and closed-toe shoes. You may want to bring your own work gloves and a refillable water bottle.

DIRECTIONS: River of Refuge is in the former Park Lane Hospital, but google maps may send you next door to the Two Rivers Psychiatric Hosptial, don’t go! Look for the River of Refuge banner, as you turn off Raytown Rd and go right at the fork. Once you get to the top of the hill you’ll turn left into the doctor’s office building. See the MAP above for a clear picture of where to go. If lost call Selena at 816-582-7857.
