Keep Score at Madmintion Tournament for Giving the Basics

MADMINTON is KC’s annual badminton tournament benefiting one of our favorite nonprofits Giving the Basics.  This year the fun has moved indoors to The Soccer Lot in the Crossroads, but there will still be crazy costumes, food/drink, music, games and all to support a great cause.

COACH / Score Keepers — Serve KC volunteers will be responsible for keeping score, ensuring rules are understood & followed and settle any disputes during play. Rules will be provided, but a basic knowledge of badminton is helpful; must be decisive. Volunteers need to be able to stand on the sidelines during the tournament.

Attire — Volunteers will receive a Giving the Basics t-shirt to wear and should wear comfortable shoes good for standing.  Please leave purses and valuables in your car as there is no secure place to store them during the event.

Meet at the Volunteer Table — Please arrive by 8:15am to allow time to get your t-shirt, go over the rules and be ready for play to start at 9am. Once our shift is over you are welcome to hang out and watch the finals and awards, the event will be over by 2pm. Parking is limited so you may need to allow extra time for walking.

Volunteers must be 16+ or share a role with an adult.

Giving the Basics provides products for dignity — deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste, toilet paper, baby wipes, trash bags, laundry detergent, etc. — that are not covered by government assistance; to people in need. Many of the local food pantries, shelters and schools benefit from the donations made to this nonprofit.
