Help After the Harvest Pick Corn Wednesday Morning

After the Harvest KC provides healthy food for hungry people by working with farmers to gather produce left behind and delivering it to feed people in need. Serve KC volunteers will be gleaning produce near KC, but we won’t know which farm until closer to the event date.

Volunteers will help glean 2 acres of corn near Raymore generously donated by a farmer. A big group is needed so RSVP and bring your friends! The exact address will be emailed to those signed up to attend, please make sure to have your settings set to recieve organizer emails.

Kid-Friendly: There is no minimum age, but children need to be old enough to follow directions, not step on the crops, or wander off.

Dress: Wear a hat, sunglasses, closed-toed old shoes and socks (sandals just don’t work in fields). Lightweight pants and a long-sleeved shirt are recommended—you’ll stay cooler if you’re covered.

Bring: Water, sunscreen and garden gloves if you have them.

NO BUG SPRAY / NO BATHROOMS: Please apply bug spray before you leave home. Most farms are organic, so you won’t be able to spray there. Most farms do not have public restrooms and using the field is never allowed, so you’ll have to drive to the closest facility.

Waiver: If you have access to a printer please sign & bring to the site

CHECK FOR UPDATES: Please check back on the meetup site prior to leaving your house for last minute any updates. Due to weather this event may need to be canceled or rescheduled.

Delivery Drivers: After gleaning the produce must be delivered to food banks, pantries or kitchens. Please let the field coordinator know if you’re able to deliver to one of the sites.

If you would like to get more information or sign-up for a glean individually visit the After the Harvest website.
